Avignon

After Carcasonne, we doubled back to Avignon. Rosanne had a strange urge to go there, chasing down her past life as a witch (it explains the fear of being burnt alive and the fascination with 14th century French witch trials...). Anyhow, the woman at the Library of the Church looked at us like we were speaking incantantions, so we went walking on the Pont d'Avignon instead...maybe the past life was in Villeneuve...
Sur le pont d'avignon...pont d'avignon ...on y danse, on y danse...pont d'avignon

The riverside beside the town... we climbed up into the tower there...riverside From the bridge back to the riverside...riverside

There was a train strike in Avignon (Rosanne heard the word 'grve' and was suddenly transported back to Year 12 classes discussing the union movement), so we thought we'd be in trouble trying to get to Paris in time...but we didn't realise the TGV (train de grande vitesse, or high speed train) only took 3 hours.

on to Paris...
