16/08/03 — A short train trip
I wasn't very interested in seeing Germany again. I enjoyed it well enough when I was 15, apart from the stupid arguments with my father, but my memory was of too many enormous castles (although I liked the swans) and the Romantische Strasse or medieval trading route (I'd especially loved Rotenberg ob der Taube) and I was happy with leaving it at that. However, I had to go through Germany to get to the ferry at Lübeck which would take me to Riga in Latvia. Well, why not? I hadn't seen Lübeck before... and it was quite lovely. |
